Google +1 Button Now on More Than One Million Sites, Receives Four Billion Views Daily; New Features Coming

Share:

Google announced via its blog that the +1 button for websites that it introduced earlier this year is now embedded on more than one million sites. The button also receives 4 billion views everyday. Alongside these stats, Google also announced two new features coming to the +1 button: support for Circles on Google+ and "+Snippets."

Circles support

This new feature allows you to share what you've "+1-ed" with only certain groups of individuals, such as your friends or family. The feature works through Google+ and all you have to do is +1 something and then look for the "Share on Google+" option.

+Snippets

When you share content from the +1 button, you'll notice that we automatically include a link, an image and a description in the sharebox. We call these "+snippets," and they're a great way to jumpstart conversations with the people you care about.

Of course: publishers can benefit from +snippets as well. With just a few changes to their webpages, publishers can actually customize their +snippets and encourage more sharing of their content on Google+. More details are available on the Google Webmaster blog.

These new features, according to Google, will roll out in the coming weeks.
