Saw 3D Leads The Weekend Box Office, Wunderlich Securities Reports
Wunderlich Securities reports (via Hollywood.com) that receipts for the top-12 releases rose 4.5% to $86.6mm.
“Lionsgate's (NYSE: LGF) Saw 3-D was the #1 movie, grossing an about-as-expected $24.2mm and considerably ahead of the lackluster $14.1mm tally for 2009's Saw VI,” Wunderlich Securities writes. “The series has now grossed $370mm, according to Box Office Mojo.”
Paramount's (NYSE: VIA) had the #2 film with Paranormal Activity 2, which fell a harder-than-expected 59% to $16.5mm to take its total gross to $65.7mm.
Lionsgate currently trades at $7.30; Viacom (Paramount's parent company) trades at $43.23.
