Market Prophit compiles and analyzes social media commentary that is related to the stock market and general investing, and then elaborates statistics that track sentiment for both experts (Market Prophits) and the public (the Crowd).
On late Tuesday, Benzinga spoke with Market Prophit’s CEO Igor Gonta, who shared some comments on trending stocks.
Netflix
When questioned about Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX)’s seven-days decline, the Chief Executive attributed the fall to “increased worries about competition growing in the streaming business as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) mulls it’s own streaming service.”

In terms of sentiment in the social media space, he said the Crowd is bearish on the company, while experts have turned bullish recently.
Alibaba
Gonta then went into Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE: BABA), which fell on Tuesday “on news that it lowered its estimates of gross merchandise volume for the 2nd quarter.”
In fact, he added, “Both the Crowd and the Market Prophits are bearish on the stock.”
GoPro
Finally, there’s GoPro Inc (NASDAQ: GPRO), which surged on Tuesday after the company unveiled its new Odyssey virtual reality camera.
The expert assured the Crowd is still bearish on the stock, while the Market Prophits are bullish.
