Trip Chowdhry's Latest Tesla Checks Show All Customers 'Loving It'

Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research reported in an e-mail to clients some of his key findings following a routine check around Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA)'s factory in California.

According to Chowdhry, Tesla was testing its Model S and Model X vehicles on the test track despite heavy rains. However, the analyst did not see any delivery trucks leaving the factory even though it was operating.

Chowdhry added that Tesla was testing more Model X cars with Tow - likely indicating that customers are opting for the optional package that costs $750 extra. In total, the analyst estimated that close to 250 Model X vehicles have been delivered in the Bay area with more than 100 delivered in the past seven days alone.

Customer Feedback

Chowdhry also pointed out that of the five people he knows who own a Model X, "they are all loving it." The analyst also noted that "none of them has even a single negative thing to talk about."

In fact, after owning the Model X vehicles for more than three weeks, the owners are still giving anywhere from five to 15 "test rides" to colleagues who want to experience the car in action.

"We are increasingly getting confident that Model X will be a huge success, as customers are loving it; however, production ramp up needs to be continuously monitored," Chowdhry concluded. "The general sense we are getting from our checks is that Model X production is improving."
