Tesla And The Era Of Intelligent Transportation
The main message from Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA)'s product announcement on Wednesday was that all cars, including the lower priced Model 3 sedan, will feature the necessary hardware for self-driving capabilities.
According to Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research, Tesla demonstrated yet again why it's out-innovating every technology company. The company's cars boasts more than 200 million miles of street learning and no other company comes close. Specifically, Mobileye NV (NYSE: MBLY) has just 250,000 miles of street learning while Google/Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) has just two million miles of street learning.

Chowdhry noted that Tesla's Sensor Suite is powered by an on-board computer run by four separate NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) Tegra GPU's, which is 40 times more powerful than the processing power in Tesla's current Autopilot.
As such, the analyst labeled Nvidia a winner from Tesla's announcement and Mobileye as "toast" with "zero chance" to remain relevant.
The analyst suggested that Tesla is "creating the Intelligent Transportation Industry" as further announcements in car sharing and ride-hailing could be introduced in December 2017.
Finally, Tesla's goal of sending a car on a self-driving mission from Los Angeles to New York City by the end of next year could also be seen as a sign that the traditional auto manufacturers "are also toast, too slow and completely clueless."
