Chowdhry: Climate Change Is A Hoax, But Tesla Investors Shouldn't Care
Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry is a climate change skeptic, but he believes other climate change skeptics shouldn’t confuse Elon Musk’s environmentalist message with Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA)’s business.
According to Chowdhry, Tesla is doing nothing to fight global warming.
Chowdhry pointed out that autonomous driving, 0–60 mph in 2.4 seconds capabilities, Powerall batteries and solar roofs aren’t about being environmentally friendly. They are about providing high-tech energy solutions and developing the world’s best cars.
“We know of about 4,000 Tesla car owners and about 200 Tesla Powerall potential customers: not even one purchased a Tesla car or reserved a Powerall because they were concerned about climate change,” Chowdhry explained.
He views climate change as a “complete hoax” but sees Tesla as the real deal.
Chowdhry pointed out that the scientific community was constantly talking about the coming Ice Age back in the 1970s before consensus opinions shifted to global warming in the 2000s. He believes the scientific community can “find the data to fit any theory.”
Chowdhry further suggested today’s concerns about global warming will prove just as overblown as fears about global cooling in previous decades.
Tesla stock is off to a red-hot start to 2017, up 20.6 percent in January.
