Lesser Number Of Jobs Saved In UK
The unemployment numbers in the UK may be far more than claimed by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown. It could be as much as half of the figure claimed by him, say Treasury officials, quoting a random figure between 250, 000 and 450, 000, but definitely not as much as 500, 000.
They say the corrected number may be the actual number too, though the government has taken several initiatives in this direction, like asset protection, bank rescues and employment initiatives. The Treasury still seems defensive of the numbers and gives reason that the present situation is not worse than the 1990’s recession, and there is a current loss of 600, 000 jobs and a drop of 5.9 percent in output.
