Volatility Rises Again (VIX, DJI)
Fear rose once again in the market today as investors continue to worry about Europe's ability to contain its debt crisis and prevent it from spreading around the globe.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) is currently off 124 points, or 1.19 percents, to 10,386.
The CBOE Market Volatility Index (VIX) is up 2.81 points, or 8.38%, to 36.36. Volatility tends to move up as equities slide. A volatility reading over 30 usually indicates severe investor fear or pessimism.
