Chipmakers See Tablet Growth In Future
Major semiconductor manufacturers are seeing green as the tablet computer revolution is kicking off. With the success of Apple's (NASDAQ: APPL) iPad, Amazon’s (NASDAQ: AMZN) Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s (NYSE: BKS) Nook, both chipmaker Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) and equipment architect Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT) recently stated that each are seeing major growth in the chip industry as a direct result of the expansion of these devices. Both hold a positive outlook for the sector over the next 18 months as there may not be enough supply to meet the increasing demand. In addition, both stated demand from developing markets is increasing at exponential rates.
Investors can position themselves for a continued bull market in semiconductors throughout the next few months by adding the PowerShares Dynamic Semiconductors (NYSE: PSI) or the SPDR S&P Semiconductor (NYSE: XSD). Both offer a wide selection of chip makers and could see gains over the short term.
