Volatility Leaves Market...For Now (DOW, VIX, VXX)
The bulls are back in town today with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 165 points, or 1.66%, to 10,151 near the close of trading.
Not surprisingly, volatility is leaving the market as investors are less fearful of a double dip recession after today's second quarter GDP report. The report showed the economy grew at a 1.6% annual rate in the quarter.
The CBOE Market Volatility Index is down 2.90 points, or 10.6%, to 24.47. The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (NYSE: VXX) is down 1.29, or 5.63%, to $21.61.
