Toomey Inches Ahead In PA Senate Race
Pat Toomey, the former Republican congressman and chairman of the Club For Growth, has reportedly pulled slightly ahead of Rep. Joe Sestak (D) in a Pennyslvania senate battle.
With about 82% of the vote recorded, Sestak trails Toomey by about 30,000 votes, according to MSNBC.
Votes from suburban Philadelphia, including Montogomery county, still have to be counted. That area of Pennsylvania usually proves critical in statewide and presidential races.
Suburban Philadelphia was once reliably a red area and has trended more toward Democratic candidates since the 1990s, but the area is still viewed as a tossup region, particularly in close races.
