The Emirates Palace Hotel Constructs $11M Christmas Tree

According to kcautv.com, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates celebrates Christmas with an $11 million dollar tree decorated with gold ornaments and gem stubbed bows.

The host of this extravagant decor is the Emirates Palace Hotel, a no-nonsense resort sporting its own marina, heli-pad and a vending machine and pops out small gold bars.

Hans Olbertz is the hotel's general manager told local newspapers about the fake tree's 43 feet of glory has 131 ornaments made of gold and precious stones like diamonds and sapphires.

The Guinness web site lists a $10.8 million tree put in 2002 in Toyko with 83 pieces of jewelry from Piaget Japan, which the Emirates Palace Hotel has clearly outdone.
