NBC (GE) Broadcasts Most Watched Olympics in 16 Years
According to NBC, the television network owned by General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE), the 2010 Vancouver Olympics have been the most viewed Olympic Games since the 1994 Winter Games.
During the first week, more than 152 million American viewers have tuned in at one time or another to watch the sporting events.
The 2006 Torino Games had 6 million less viewers over its first seven days of broadcasting, according to Nielsen Co. data cited by NBC.
A weak economy and poor weather deserve some of the credit for making these games such a success. With less money to spend and facing snow covered roads, many Americans are simply staying home.
