Census Update: 16% Completed

So far the 2010 Census is off to a positive start with 16% being returned only one week after being mailed.

Over 120 million households were sent the Census and requested to complete and return it as soon as possible. Although it is nearly impossible to get a 100% return rate, the 16% within the week has us well on our way to meeting or even exceeding those returned in 2000 according to the Census Bureau.

Although the bureau will accept the forms throughout April, starting in May and lasting until July hired help will be sent door-to-door to all those not responding to the census.

In an effort to save time and money (an estimate of $1.5 billion), the Census Bureau is highly recommending and encouraging people to fill out and return their forms as soon as possible.
