Apple (AAPL) iPad Costs Just $260 To Manufacture
A report released by iSuppli claims that the lowest priced iPad from Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) costs just $260 to manufacture.
An earlier report by iSuppli put the manufacturing cost of the iPad at $230 for the cheapest model that retails for $499.
However, iSuppli conducted another teardown of the Apple Inc. iPad and found the components to be a bit more expensive than the previous estimate.
The report also found that most of the expenses for the iPad have to do with its user interface components like the LG Display touch screen.
This is a departure from traditional PC manufacturing, which was based around motherboard components, with user interface components something of an after thought.
