Senator Stands Firm Against Airline Fees

Finally, someone is taking a stand against ridiculous airline fees. Senator Charles Schumer of New York is taking a stand against airlines charging fees for carry-on luggage.

Schumer will request the Treasury Department to prohibit airlines from continuing to charge outrageous fees for taking luggage onto the plane. Specifically, he is urging the department to state that carry-on items are necessary for traveling, making them exempt from extra fees outside of the ticket price.

The Democratic Senator's request comes after Spirit Airlines decided to charge up to $45 for passengers traveling with carry-on items that need to be stored in the overhead compartments.

The Treasury Department has yet to respond to Schumer's request.
