Murphy’s Tragic End Leaves Unanswered Questions

Hollywood and movie buffs are still struggling to come to terms with the untimely demise of Brittany Murphy. Her youth is the most unsettling aspect, but one wonders how the road ahead would have shaped up for Murphy had she been alive.

By Hollywood standards, Murphy was an old-timer. After a series of TV appearances in her teens, she made her first big splash as Tai Fraser in ‘Clueless’. Her performance got a lot of attention, but she continued to play a string of supporting roles to other actresses. The graph soared in 2002 when she starred with Eminem in ‘8 Mile’, who she was rumored to have been involved with. The years that followed saw a dalliance with Ashton Kutcher, and a few notable roles like the one in ‘Sin City’.
Ironically for Murphy, the biggest success of her career was a movie where she only lent her voice. She flexed her vocal cords as the penguin Gloria’s voice in ‘Happy Feet’ and the movie grossed $380 million worldwide.

In recent years Murphy got flak for her increasingly skinny look and there were rumors of addiction, which she denied. Interestingly, she was in the news earlier this month, when she was fired from the sets of ‘The Caller’. Though creative differences were cited as the official reason, most believe otherwise something more sinister was afoot.

Husband Simon Monjack’s sudden illness was also the subject of controversy. However, that will take a backseat for now since speculation is rife on the real cause of Murphy’s death. Prescription drugs were found in abundance at her home, and Monjack’s refusal to allow an autopsy added fuel to the fire. Whatever the outcome, there won’t be answers to all the questions hovering around the life – or death- of Brittany Murphy.
