Conan Moving To Fox?

NBC (NYSE: GE) finally announced that the rumors concerning Jay Leno's possible return to his previous time slot were true. It is looking more likely that Leno's Tonight Show successor, Conan O'Brien, may jump ship for NBC rival Fox.

The network owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation (Nasdaq: NWS) (Nasdaq: NWSA) may be a better fit for O'Brien whose viewers tend to be younger than Leno's.

The network owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation (Nasdaq: NWS) (Nasdaq: NWSA) may be a better fit for O'Brien whose viewers tend to be younger than Leno's.

After Leno left the helm of the Tonight Show for his new 10 PM slot, local NBC affiliates complained that his show provided a poor lead in to their news broadcasts and demanded that something be done.

O'Brien's hold on his job was weakened when his ratings failed to reach those of his predecessor.

Presumably, NBC decided to announce the lineup change ahead of its broadcast of the Winter Olympics in part to market the shows that would fill the 10 PM slot.

O'Brien announced that he "cannot participate" if he is moved out of his current time slot. This opens the door for a rival like Fox to take O'Brien and his viewers away from their rival network.
