Today’s Solo Small Cap Leaders Coming on Strong For Weeks Now

Not all stocks are in the gutter today; a couple of small cap names are making bullish progress. And, before you dismiss them as gainers simply due to some volatility, you should also know the group’s been at the top of the leader-board for most of the last six months.

Those names? They’re the tobacco stocks….. Star Scientific Inc. (NASDAQ: STSI), British American Tobacco PLC (AMEX: BTI), Lorillard Inc. (NYSE: LO), and Vector Group Ltd. (NYSE: VGR).

The S&P Small Cap Tobacco Index is up 1.44% today, but that’s part of an uptrend that (1) has been in place for a while, and (2) even if the market turns south, could be a trend that overcomes the broad bearish tide.
