U.S. Airways Raises Online Baggage Fees

U.S. Airways (NYSE: LCC) is the latest airline to raise baggage fees. As of February 1st, U.S. Airways will charge customers $23 to check their first bag online, up from the previous price of $20. The price for a second bag was raised from $30 to $32.

The fee changes were made to match those of Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) and Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL).

Last August, US Airways began charging $25 for the first bag and $35 for the second for any bags checked in at the airport. Delta and Continental followed suit earlier this week and raised their online check in fees above those of U.S. Airways.

United (Nasdaq: UAUA) charges the same amount as the other airlines but does not offer a discount for online check in.

American (NYSE: AMR) charges just $20 for the first bag and $30 for the second.
