Bill Gates Goes To Sundance
Bill Gates not only attended the Sundance Film Festival but he was also featured there in a documentary. The Microsoft founder was there to attend the screening of “Waiting for Superman,” a film that he appears in about the crisis in public education.
Since leaving the day to day operations at Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), Bill Gates and his wife have spent a great deal of time and money at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation looking for ways to improve education levels in the U.S.
The film was directed by Davis Guggenheim and produced by Participant Media, which was founded by former eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) executive Jeff Skoll. It landed the first distribution deal of the festival when it was sold to Paramount Vantage, a unit of the Viacom (NYSE: VIA) movie studio.
