Mark Zuckerberg Delivers Epic Beatdown At First Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament: 'This Nerd Is A Silent Killer'

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META) co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg competed in his first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament over the weekend, and he walked away a winner after a close call.

What To Know: Zuckerberg told the world about the mixed martial arts feat in an Instagram post on Sunday.

"Competed in my first jiu jitsu tournament and won some medals 🥇🥈 for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team," Zuckerberg said in the social media post.

Although he came out on top, both figuratively and literally, one of his matches didn't go as planned. Per a video shared by Yahoo News, the Meta CEO appeared to be upset about a match that was stopped short by the referee. Zuckerberg looked surprised as the official raised his opponent's hand and ruled the match a defeat for the 38-year-old billionaire

The referee reportedly ruled that Zuckerberg had "tapped out" of the match, but the competition was later re-cast as a 0-0 draw. Zuckerberg ultimately went on to claim gold and silver medals in the weekend competition.

Zuckerberg has been interested in Jiu Jitsu for less than a year. His interest in the sport was revealed in September when The Information interviewed one of Zuckerberg's training partners, Khai Wu, a professional fighter who goes by "The Shadow."

Wu reportedly called Zuckerberg a Jiu Jitsu nerd, noting that he doesn't look like much of a threat until you see him on the mat.

"You don’t know this nerd is a silent killer," Wu said.

Zuckerberg gave a special shout out to Wu, as well as Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu's Dave Camarillo and James Terry, in his weekend Instagram post celebrating his success.
