New Entertainment Startup Aims to Promote Fresh Talent
New social startup Stagee has just launched its open alpha site, a professional platform for entertainers somewhat in the mode of MySpace's original intention as a platform for artists and entertainers. The company was founded in early 2011 and raised $330K in seed money from angel investors. Stagee is now seeking a second round investment.
“Our vision is to help great talent find the audience and the industry access to realize their dreams," according to Lior Maimon, Stagee's CEO and cofounder. “Stagee will also simply be a place where anyone can find great entertainment.”
Singers, songwriters, dancers, comedians and the like can upload videos, show reels, tracks, photo spreads and blog posts in order to create a buzz that will connect them with fans, directors and producers. The site also includes tools for talent scouts, casting directors and agents to find suitable talent for their next project.
Whether Stagee can take on the elephant in the room -- Facebook -- or whether it will be no more relevant than MySpace remains to be seen. But Stagee promises it will continue to release innovative features that help talent find and grow their audiences.
