This Video Game Will Let You Have Sex With A Bear, But Short Players Face A Kissing Challenge

Baldur’s Gate 3, the successful role-playing video game developer by Larian Studios, offers players the opportunity to engage in romantic relationships with various in-game characters.

The game, which is based on Hasbro Inc.'s (NASDAQ: HAS) Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing system, allows flirting and intimate interactions, including sex. Larian Studios has designed the characters to be open to romantic pursuits, regardless of species, including humans, demons, elves and others.

Baldur's Gate 3 gained a lot of popularity in part because it has romance options with a bear (or a Druid in bear form) and because it comes with full nudity options, including customization options for genitals.

However, a tweet from gaming journalist Jesse Vitelli showed height differences between characters can lead to funny and unintended visual results during romantic interactions. Vitelli's character, a Gnome, attempted to kiss a much taller Tiefling character, resulting in an unintentionally comical pose that finished with a smooch on the torso.

When asked by PC Gamer if they were trying to fix this curious bug, Larian Studios said their team was investigating the issue.

Baldur's Gate 3 secured the second-largest launch on Steam in 2023, trailing only behind Warner Bros. Discovery's (NASDAQ: WBD) Hogwarts Legacy. The RPG additionally claimed the title of Steam's most significant CRPG and turn-based game to date, not to mention achieving the highest PC game rating ever recorded on Metacritic.

Importantly, these achievements stem solely from the PC player base. Baldur's Gate 3 is scheduled to debut on PS5 on Sept. 6, 2023. Considering the strong pre-order sales on PS5, the game is poised to achieve similar success on this platform.

Swen Vincke, Baldur's Gate 3's director and CEO of Larian Studios, tweeted to celebrate the game's good reception: "So proud of my team — none of us can believe this is really happening. But the greatest thing about all of this is that we can continue to make games like this."
