Baldur's Gate 3 Studio's Plans: 'We Want to Do More,' Details Await

Fans have been eagerly anticipating DLC for the successful Baldur's Gate 3, but its developer, Larian Studios, remained noncommittal.

Senior Product Manager Tom Butler told IGN that the team's current focus is on the upcoming launch for Sony Group Corp's (NYSE: SONY) PlayStation 5 and addressing game issues across platforms.

Expansion content isn't in the immediate plans; the team will continue patching and then take a break before deciding on their next steps.

"We'll carry on patching for a while and then we're all going to take a holiday and then we'll figure out what we do next," Butler said. "But at the moment, we genuinely have discussions. We want to do more. We don't know what yet."

The recent announcement of Baldur's Gate 3 coming to Microsoft Corp's (NASDAQ: MSFT) Xbox later in the year suggests that the Xbox release will also occupy the studio's resources before any new content development begins.

Baldur's Gate 3 has been appreciated for its absence of microtransactions and in-game purchases. It's uncertain how this philosophy aligns with potential DLC or expansion plans.

Larian's previous game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, didn't include paid DLC but did receive free major content patches post-launch.
