Resident Evil Village Lands On iPhones And iPads, Offers PC-Like Graphics With Sustained Performance

Popular first-person shooter Resident Evil Village has landed on Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 15 Pro and M1-powered iPads. This is one of the first AAA titles to come to the iPhone, as Apple promised, bringing to mobile gaming a console-like experience with top-tier PC graphics settings.

What Happened: Resident Evil Village is now available to download on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and M1 or later powered iPads.

YouTube gamer Datura Plays, who had early access to the game, reported that Resident Evil runs at 60 frames per second (fps) on a sustained basis on the iPhone 15 Pro.

Previously, the game was playable on these devices using an external monitor through the USB-C port, but with limited resolution and framerate. With this launch, users can now enjoy high-quality graphics settings akin to PC gaming, including a MetalFX upscaling option.

Additionally, Datura Plays disclosed that the game can be played at 2340 x 1080 and 2796 x 1290 resolutions. However, for a steady 60FPS, it is recommended to lower these settings. The game also shows the available video RAM, providing 6GB of space for the best visual experience on the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The game is also expected to be available for iPads featuring the M1 and M2, further exciting Apple users.

Why It Matters: This development comes on the heels of Apple’s announcement during the iPhone 15 launch event on Sept. 12.

Apple unveiled plans to bring console-like performances to mobile devices, with Capcom’s Resident Evil Village being among the first to appear on Apple’s digital storefronts. This is not a mobile version of the game but the complete game, marking a significant shift in the mobile gaming experience.
