Elon Musk's SpaceX Launches In 2025 So Far: 12 Falcon 9 Launches, 1 Starship Test Flight

Since the start of 2025, Elon Musk‘s rocket manufacturing company SpaceX has been busy completing multiple launches, starting on Jan. 3 when its Falcon 9 rocket launched the UAE-based Space42’s Thuraya 4 mission to space.

The company has since launched multiple missions carrying its own Starlink satellite internet satellites while also launching missions for other customers. The following is the list of SpaceX launches thus far this year:

Starship Launches: In addition to the above, the company also attempted a flight test of its ambitious Starship vehicle on Jan. 16.

Starship lifted off from Starbase in Texas at 4:37 p.m. CT and the vehicle booster landed back at the launch site after separation from its first stage. The spacecraft, however, disintegrated in space during the flight test. The spacecraft was carrying 10 Starlink simulators which were similar in size and weight to the company's next-generation Starlink satellites as payload.

Starship is part of SpaceX’s ambition to take humans back to the Moon as well as the surface of Mars. The vehicle is still in the development and testing phase.

In 2024, SpaceX completed 134 launches, not including four Starship test flights, after targeting 144 launches. A majority of them were Starlink missions launched by the company's workhorse Falcon 9 launch vehicle.

The company is yet to unveil the number of launches it is targeting in 2025.
