More Selling on Wall Street; S&P Slides Into Bear Market

The markets kicked off the day deep in the red Tuesday, extending a steep two-day losing streak, amid growing concerns weakness in Europe may spread abroad and knocking the S&P 500 into bear-market territory.
Today's Markets
As of 9:45 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 160 points, or 1.5%, to 10,494, the S&P 500 slid 15.3 points, or 1.4%, to 1,084 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 23.1 points, or 1%, to 2,312.
The S&P 500 crossed into bear market territory minutes after the opening bell, indicating the broad index has fallen 20% from the highs of the year. The Dow and the Nasdaq are within a 4% range of falling into a bear market as well.
