Financial Regulators Meet On October 1
According to a statement by the Treasury, top financial regulators will meet on October 1 as part of the Dodd-Frank Act's Financial Stability Oversight Council. Such a meeting is being arranged for the first time. The council is being established in order to trace sources that can jeopardize financial stability in the US and around the world. The prime members of the council include Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, the committee's chair; Securities and Exchange Commission Chairwoman Mary Schapiro and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
