Afternoon Market Update (IBKR, CVX, XOM, COP, BKS)

Shares of Interactive Brokers Group Inc (NASDAQ: IBKR) gained about 3.34% after the company declared a special dividend of $1.79 per share. The dividend will be payable on December 23, to the shareholders as of record on December 9.

Oil and gas stocks fell along with the US equity indexes, as the price of crude oil dropped. Some of the decliners in the list include Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX), Exxon Mobil Corp (NYSE: XOM) and ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP). The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI) lost about 0.36%, while the NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG) fell about 0.59%.

Shares of Barnes & Noble Inc (NYSE: BKS) dropped about 5% after the company posted FQ2 net loss. The company's net loss came in at $0.22 per share, compared with estimated range of $0.05 per share profit to a loss of $0.25 per share. The company made $46 million before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, in the same period.
