Fed Meeting Does Not Stop Stock Futures From Rising
US Stock futures rose despite the meeting of the Federal Reserve deciding on riskier stance. The prices for S&P 500 future rose to 1046.9 or 5.2 points, Nasdaq 100 futures rose to 1679.50 or 4 points, and Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures gained 53 points to 9762.
Credit Suisse (NYSE: CS) Equity Strategists told investors not to sell their equities, restated by their 1,100 S&P 500 call. They will have to wait for the 2:15 PM EST rate decision to see if their advice was right. What people would be looking for in the meeting is whether the Fed would remove the measures in place to minimize the effects of the credit crunch. Societes General expects the Fed to see that the market still needs an exceptionally low level of federal funds rate while other firms expect a slight change.
