Verizon Testing $99 Unlimited Call/Text/Data Plan (VZ)
Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is testing out an unlimited Nationwide Talk & Text plan for $69.99 in San Diego and Los Angeles retail outlets, according to research from Current Analysis. The national price is currently $89.99 for the same plan.
An Engadget.com report notes that the cheaper package paired with a $29.99 data plan would have Verizon's monthly fee "within pennies of Sprint's (NYSE: S) Simply Everything plan."
Certainly, a round $100 price tag for unlimited everything on the nation's biggest network would be hard to ignore. Consumers and investors will keep a close eye on how the trials go.
Engadget's Ross Miller concedes, however, that "As with other network trials, this one may never expand beyond certain test markets -- but needless to say, this seems to indicate Verizon's taking its smaller CDMA rival a whole lot more seriously."
Verizon shares finished slightly down today, closing at $30.15.
