AAPL Announces Launch Of iPad Tablet On April 3, Shares Jump

Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) has announced that its much-awaited iPad will be available in the markets on April 3 for Wi-Fi models. For the Wi-Fi +3G models, the company has set the launch date for late April.

AAPL stated that US consumers can pre-order both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi +3G models from Apple's online store from March 12 onwards. Consumers can also reserve a Wi-Fi model and take delivery on Saturday, April 3, from any Apple retail store.

Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, said, “We're excited for customers to get their hands on this magical and revolutionary product and connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before."

AAPL shares have risen by 2.05% to $215.02 in pre-market trading.
