April live cattle is trading at 113.27, down 0.07 cents/lb. June live cattle is trading at 104.17, down 0.12 cents/lb

Live cattle futures are steady to lower just after the open. Market chatter about cash prices is making the rounds.

Wednesday's USDA cattle slaughter was 111,000 head versus 101,000 head a year ago. The total cattle slaughter for the week is now 337,000 head versus 304,000 a year ago.
