Meredith Whitney: Don't Buy Banks (C, BAC)
In an interview with Meredith Whitney on CNBC, Whitney said don't buy banks in general, and to stay away from the banks with larger trading operations.
Whitney has been consistently bearish on the banking sector, and just predicted that approximately 80,000 jobs will be lost from the financial services industry.
Whitney is the president of Meredith Whitney Advisory Group. Prior to that, she was a star analyst at Oppenheimer, who became famous for her bearish reports on the banking system prior to the 2008 financial crisis.
Shares of banks such as Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) and Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) are flat on the day, after Whitney's comments.
