Kayak's Birge: 'We Don't Want Google to Have Control' GOOG

It's no secret that travel sites are against Google Inc.'s (NASDAQ: GOOG) plans to purchase ITA Software Inc., which produces software for the travel industry.

Today, Robert Birge, Kayak's Chief Marketing Officer, spoke to CNBC about the dilemma.

“We don't want Google to have control over a technology the whole industry relies on,” he said.

ITA produces more than 60% of the software used by the online travel industry. If the acquisition follows through, Kayak.com, Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXPE), and other sites are concerned that Google will wield too much power over their industry.
