Want To Find Out If Your Toyota (TM) Has A Faulty Accelerator? CNBC Tells You How

Share:

Toyota Motors (NYSE: TM) has recently recalled 2.3 million vehicles with faulty accelerators. Leaves you wondering if your Toyota is fitted with a suspect accelerator, right? CNBC's Phil LeBeau has a tip on how to find out if your Toyota Camry or Corolla is in need of repairs.

Phil says that the issue is related to Toyota models that are fitted with U.S. made accelerators. Similar models fitted with Japan manufactured accelerators are not affected. Phil LeBeau has suggested that you look at the vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the small metal plate located on the dash board. If the VIN starts with "JT", it indicates that the model is built in Japan and hence is problem free. In other cases, it may be fitted with the suspect gas pedal.

It kinda makes you wonder. A Japanese car company that beat US car makers for years, now facing ire in the US because of faulty parts that were made in the US! Whats going on here?
