Twitter Erupts in Outpouring of Support After CNBC Anchor Mark Haines Dies

The connection between a television personality and his audience can make it feel at times like the person on the other side of the screen is family. It was doubly so for fans of CNBC's Mark Haines, who died suddenly today.

For many of us who were watching 9/11 unfold on the television, Mark was the steady voice who carried us through that awful, emotional day. And now, I suppose, it is our turn to repay that debt to Mark's family, friends, colleagues, and really, everyone whose life he touched.

Twitter, the newest of the new media, seems a fitting place to remember and grieve the loss of an anchor who was the voice of our generation.

IAMJOEYD writes, “@Cnbc My biggest memory of MH on floor was the shirt & Tie with the sweat pants. It was great. #RipMarkHaines”

prettybirdsmash writes, “@cnbc Mark Haines was the Marlon Brando of business news. Completely authentic.”

rayne_ea writes, “@CNBC I am so sad to hear of the sudden death Mark Haines, a unique & truly great television journalist. Irreplaceable.”

CNBC personality Jim Cramer, who really needs no introduction, had this to say about the passing of his colleague and friend. “We have lost our dear friend in my dear friend Mark Haines, who defined everything good about what we do.”

joseramonmarmtz had this fitting tweet about Mark's passing. “RIP Mark Haines... his goodbye to Erin Burnett a few weeks ago made a tear come out of my eye.”

Mark Haines will be missed. You can follow his coverage on CNBC, as the network family remembers one of the greatest newsmen of this generation. CNBC is also soliciting tweets for those who want to remember and express their condolences. Use the @CNBC handle to reach CNBC.
