Generation Investment Management LLP, the investment firm led by former Senator and Vice President Al Gore, is reportedly interested in starting a $500 million Asian investment fund, Bloomberg News reported, citing two people with knowledge of the matter.

The fund, which is looking to tap into markets such as China and India, could be rolling by July. London-based Generation Investment, which targets pension funds and wealthy clients, closed its main global equity fund in 2008 to new money after assets rose to about $5 billion, Bloomberg reported.

Generation focuses on socially reponsible investing and invests only from the long side. It is expected that the Asian will follow those parameters.

EBay is (Nasdaq: EBAY) is one of Generation's top investments. The firm owns 3.5 million shares of the online auction firm, according to recent SEC filings.
