Amazon Willing to Invest Up to $500M in California to Squash Web Tax

Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) is ready to build distribution centers and put hundreds of Californians on the payroll, in an effort to hold off state efforts to tax online purchases.

The online retailer proposed the plan at a meeting Tuesday night between Amazon lobbyists and representatives of the California Retailers Association, according to the Los Angeles Times.
