Asus Zenbook Poses First Real Threat to MacBook Air

Apple's dominance will finally be tested.

With the simple question, “Do you believe in love at first sight?” Asus has launched its first foray into the so-called ultrabook category of laptops: the Zenbook. It's thin, it's sleek, and it might very well be one of the best laptops released this year.

The company has launched an intriguing website with a multitude of images, design notes, and videos promoting the Zenbook's features. Coming in both 11.6- and 13.3-inch models, the Zenbook features Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, an “instant on” resume time of two seconds, and up to 256 GB of storage. Basically, it's a MacBook Air that runs Windows 7 and bears the Asus name. TechCrunch seems to be really impressed.

In glancing over the specs, it is apparent that the Zenbook has one major advantage over the MacBook Air: USB 3.0.
