US Stock Futures Up After S&P Euro-Zone Warning
US stock futures are higher this morning, a day after Standard & Poor's placed the credit ratings of 15 euro-zone nations on review for possible downgrade. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 45 points to 12,111.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 5.20 points to 1,260.20. Nasdaq 100 futures surged 11.50 points to 2,336.50.
US stocks closed higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging 0.65% to 12,097.83, the S&P 500 index rising 1.03% to 1,257.08 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 1.10% to 2,655.76.
AutoZone Inc (NYSE: AZO) is projected to report its FQ1 earnings at $4.44 per share on sales of $1.9 billion. Casey's General Stores Inc (NASDAQ: CASY) is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.98 on revenue of $1.84 billion.
Toll Brothers Inc (NYSE: TOL) is projected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.05 on revenue of $424.3 million. The Men's Wearhouse Inc (NYSE: MW) is estimated to post its Q3 EPS at $0.65 on revenue of $570.94 million.
SAIC Inc (NYSE: SAI) is expected to post its Q3 EPS at $0.34 on revenue of $2.75 billion. Toro Company (NYSE: TTC) is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.09 per share on revenue of $357.8 million.
The Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: PBY) reported its Q3 earnings at $0.13 per share on sales of $522.2 million. However, analysts were projecting earnings of $0.13 per share on sales of $521 million.
Perrigo Company (NASDAQ: PRGO) will become a part of the NASDAQ-100 Index before the opening bell on Tuesday.
European markets were slightly higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index gained 0.07%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.19%, French CAC 40 index rose 0.08% and German DAX 30 index dropped 0.36%.
Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.3894%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.32% and China's Shanghai Composite declining 0.31%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 1.2381%.
The Australian dollar fell 0.41% versus the US dollar to $1.0227. The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.07% to trade at 78.66.
Nymex crude-oil futures gained $0.25 to $101.24 a barrel. However, gold futures dropped $9.60 to $1,724.70 an ounce.
