China's Total Number Of Mobile Subscribers Surge 1.3% In December

China posted a 1.3% monthly rise in total number of mobile subscribers in December, according to data from the country's three telecom operators.

China's total number of mobile subscribers climbed to 975.7 million in December. Mobile subscribers at China Mobile Limited (NYSE: CHL) climbed to 649.57 million, including 51.21 million 3G subscribers.

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU) reported that its mobile subscribers surged to 199.66 million in the period, including 40.02 million for 3G subscribers.

China Telecom Corp Ltd (NYSE: CHA) reported that mobile subscribers rose to 126.47 million, including 36.29 million 3G subscribers.

CHL shares gained 0.69% to close at $49.36 yesterday, while CHU shares fell 1.67% to close at $18.81 yesterday. CHA shares rose 2.42% to close at $53.26 yesterday.
