Dell Will be Taken Private by Michael Dell, Silver Lake for $13.65 per Share
Computer manufacturer Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) will be taken private at $13.65 per share. Chairman, CEO and founder Michael Dell has partnered with private equity firm Silver Lake to to take the company private. Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) will chip in $2 billion to complete the deal as a loan.
Shares of Dell have been beaten down over the last year as the demand for PCs has plummeted: Consumers have increasingly opted for tablets over standard PCs.
Traders should keep their eyes on shares of Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ). Like Dell, the company is a major PC manufacturer.
