Sony (NYSE: SNE) attempted to rule the headlines this weak, thanks entirely to its brand-new console: PlayStation 4.
The Japanese tech giant revealed that it had sold one million PlayStation 4 units in just one day in North America -- a new record for the game industry.
Sony also earned some attention after IHS (NYSE: IHS) released its teardown for the console, revealing how much it costs to build a PS4.
Elsewhere, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced that HBO Go had finally come to Chromecast. The search engine giant also surprised the world by unveiling a physical debit card to accompany its mobile payment solution, Google Wallet.
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) made some noise after a report claimed that the company would charge more for the iPhone 6 than all previous iPhones.
Samsung (OTC: SSNLF), China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) and Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) had some notable news as well.
