Sony (NYSE: SNE) attempted to rule the headlines this weak, thanks entirely to its brand-new console: PlayStation 4.
The Japanese tech giant revealed that it had sold one million PlayStation 4 units in just one day in North America -- a new record for the game industry.
Sony also earned some attention after IHS (NYSE: IHS) released its teardown for the console, revealing how much it costs to build a PS4.
Elsewhere, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced that HBO Go had finally come to Chromecast. The search engine giant also surprised the world by unveiling a physical debit card to accompany its mobile payment solution, Google Wallet.
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) made some noise after a report claimed that the company would charge more for the iPhone 6 than all previous iPhones.
Samsung (OTC: SSNLF), China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) and Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) had some notable news as well.

iPhone 6 Could Cost More Than iPhone 5S
Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) current pricing strategy is pretty simple.
The newest iPhone -- in this case the iPhone 5S -- retails for $199 with a contract.
Last year's model, the iPhone 5C (technically an iPhone 5 in a plastic shell), sells for $99.The two-year-old model, the iPhone 4S, is free for those who sign a two-year carrier agreement.
This pricing structure could change with the iPhone 6, which may be more expensive to produce.
Consequently, Apple may choose to charge $249 or as much as $299 for the iPhone 6.
The contract-free version would likely cost more than the usual MSRP of $649.

Sony Sold A Million PS4s
By selling one million units in North America alone (in just one day, no less), Sony (NYSE: SNE) has set the stage for massive sales of its new console.
Sony hopes to sell three million units by the end of the year and five million units by the end of March 2014.
From a sales perspective, it seems that Sony did everything right.
But while the Japanese tech giant was traditionally known for building reliable hardware, PlayStation 4's launch has been somewhat hampered by ongoing reports of damaged systems.

iPhone 5C Production Suffered As Demand Declined
Does anyone want an iPhone 5C?
Numerous reports have indicated that Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has reduced orders for its plastic iPhone.
Now Foxconn owner Hon Hai Precision Industries (OTC: HNHPF) has reportedly halted iPhone 5C production at one of its factories.
Its production is being replaced by a much more popular device: the iPhone 5S.

Sony Could Be Making $18 On Every PlayStation 4 Sold
Sony (NYSE: SNE) famously lost more than $200 on every PlayStation 3 it sold in 2006, but the company's latest console is much cheaper to produce.
The main 60GB PlayStation 3 cost $840 to produce but was sold for $599.
PlayStation 4, on the other hand, costs $381 to produce and retails for $399.
That leaves $18 for Sony -- and/or its retail partners.

Electronic Arts + PlayStation 4 = Big Sales
Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) revealed its initial sales estimates for PlayStation 4 games.
According to the company's COO Peter Moore, one in every three PS4 games sold is from EA.
Thus far, EA has published more PS4 games than any other company, including Madden NFL 25 and Battlefield 4.

China Mobile One Step Closer To Apple Deal
In the latest too-good-to-be-true development, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) are expected to announce a deal next month.
This rumor came after China Mobile announced that it would begin selling a new brand of smartphones on December 18.
If a deal is reached, Apple would finally be able to sell the iPhone through the world's largest carrier.
China Mobile currently has more than 700 million customers.

Galaxy Gear Sales Surpassed 800,000
Samsung's (OTC: SSNLF) cleverly marketed smart watch is officially the most popular device of its kind.
The company announced that it has sold more than 800,000 Galaxy Gear units.
Needless to say, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) CEO Tim Cook is not the only one who thinks the wrist is interesting.

Nexus 7 Outshined iPad Mini's Color Range
Which tablet has the best color range? AnandTech tested the tablets to find out.
The results showed that while the iPad Mini with Retina Display is impressive, its color range is below the 2013 Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9".
The iPad Air has a better color range as well, but that was to be expected. It is the bigger, more expensive tablet, after all.
