Jon Brod to Leave AOL for Startup Culture

AOL executive Jon Brod is set to leave the company, according to AllThingsD.

On December 9, AllThingsD reported that Brod leaving the company has been widely anticipated.

Brod most recently ran the company's venture arm which has been “in a bit of limbo for a while.”

Brod was also tasked with integrating Huffington Post with AOL and later saving Patch, a local news startup Brod co-founded in 2007 and was subsequently bought out by AOL in 2009.

Neither job really took off leaving Brod without a practical job at the company. Brod indicated that he wants to join a startup.

Brod will be leaving an old friend Tim Armstrong. Armstrong is the current CEO of AOL and the two have collaborated and worked together on many projects.
