Weekly Highlights: iPhone 6 Factory, Sony's Project Morpheus And More

It seems that the current Apple supply chain cannot handle the demands of the mysterious iPhone 6.

Pegatron, one of Apple's biggest suppliers, is reportedly building a new factory to build the iPhone 6.

Production is expected to begin in the second quarter -- just in time for a third our fourth quarter release.

Sony threw its hat into the VR development pool this week when it unveiled Project Morpheus.

The promising prototype features a panel resolution of 1920×1080 (960×1080 per eye), 3D audio, an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

Jefferies analyst Atul Goyal told Benzinga that he thinks it is an "interesting product," while game critics who have used the device seem to be generally impressed.

Twitter volume for Divergent is not nearly as high as some might have expected.

"The Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) volume for Divergent going into this opening week is running about 20 to 25 percent of what The Hunger Games had," Chris Camillo, author of Laughing at Wall Street, told Benzinga.

Put another way, Divergent has 75 to 80 percent less Twitter volume than The Hunger Games.

A new report indicates that there may be light at the end of the tunnel for Hewlett-Packard and Dell.

According to IDC, both firms saw positive Q4 growth in the global monitor market.

The iPad 2 is no more.

Consumers who want a cheaper iPad will have to settle for the brighter and more powerful fourth-generation iPad, which happens to feature a Retina Display.

At the same time, Apple also released a new version of the iPhone 5C in select markets.

This version comes with 8GB storage (versus 16GB standard) and retails for roughly $70 less than the original.

Though it may seem that Apple launched a cheaper version to improve lackluster sales, Pacific Crest Securities analyst Andy Hargreaves does not think that's the case.

"I don't think it's necessarily an indication that the iPhone 5C has been selling bad," he told Benzinga.

"We know that [and] they know that, relative to their expectations, it has been pretty inline with what typical mid-range iPhones sell. It just didn't sell more."

ISI Group thinks that Apple will add not one but two new iPhones to its lineup this fall.

One will kick things up a notch and offer a 4.7 inch display. The other will be a mammoth phablet with a 5.5 inch display.

ISI's Brian Marshall believes that this will increase the current upgrade rate from nine percent to 12 - 14 percent in the second half of the year.
