Shares Of Dish Respond To Rumors Of Verizon Soft Talks
Shares of Dish Network (NASDAQ: DISH) jumped over 3.6 percent within minutes of DealReporter's headline suggesting that the company has held talks with Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ).
Citing sources, DealReporter wrote, "Verizon has had talks with Dish in the midst of recent industry consolidation." Amid these "soft" talks, the recent AT&T acquisition of DirecTV may force Verizon's hand to consider potential deals.
Spokesmen from Dish Network and Verizon Communications declined to comment to Benzinga on the rumored talks.
Shares of Dish Network trailed lower Monday morning amid the AT&T and DirecTV news. Following the DealReporter headline, shares shot to $61.28. The stock has seen some sell off since, now trading at $59.60.
