FireEye Inc Shares Pop On News Of Apple Inc. Platform Protection
FireEye Inc (NASDAQ: FEYE) announced targeted attack protection for the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) Platform on Tuesday.
According to the company’s press release, “FireEye will support Apple’s Mac OS X operating system for network protection, iOS for mobile protection to detect known and unknown attacks, and enable analytics with forensic analysis for Apple products.”
The company noted that as Apple’s footprint grows in enterprises, so does the effort for hackers to attack Apple products.
The press release referred to statistics from Forrester Research which indicated “21 percent of information workers use one or more Apple products for work, and executives and senior-level employees – often the prime targets of advanced attackers – represent 41 percent of enterprise Apple users.”
A growing number of attacks on Apple products have been observed by FireEye Labs with “malware callbacks from Macs [increasing] 90 percent month over month from June 2013 to June 2014.”
FireEye Inc opened Tuesday at $28.95, up 3.07 percent.
