Early November Retail Sales Mixed Ahead Of Earnings
For the first week in November, same-store sales across the United States fell 1 percent when compared to the same week in October but were 3.8 percent higher than the same week a year ago, according to data from Tuesday's Redbook.
On the other hand, Tuesday's ICSC-Goldman data showed U.S. Retail Sales for the week ended November 8 were 1.5 percent higher than they were last week and 2.1 percent higher when compared to the same week a year ago.
Traders and investors in the retail space should be excited to get insight into quarterly performance from major companies over the next week. Expected on the calendar:
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) will report its third quarter results on Wednesday before market open.
Macy's, Inc. (NYSE: M) will report its third quarter results on Wednesday before market open.
Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) will report its third quarter results on Thursday after market close.
J C Penney Company (NYSE: JCP) will report its third quarter results on Wednesday after market close.
